Background:
Lord Merricke, Baron of Lorgan, is from a long line of nobility and skilled knights. His father served the Crown of Abertawe for over twenty years before he was killed in battle when Lord Merricke was only a child. It wasn't long afterwards before Lord Merricke's mother sent him to train to become a knight under his uncle.

His uncle was a hard and bitter man by now. Merricke's training was harsh. He hated his world during the years he trained under Lord Andrew. He didn't want to be a knight, but trained hard and efficiently, knowing the better he did the sooner he would get away. At nineteen he was knighted. He served as a knight in the king's army for several years. He served well and earned a name for himself, earning quite a keep as a successful knight, but most resented him for his cruel tactics and overall personality.

He was thirty-three when he met a beautiful woman by the name of Eva ui Arendale. He fell in love with her immediately. She changed his way of life. He married her and retired to his family's lands, intent to raise a family with her and oversee the estate. A year and a half into their marriage she became pregnant with their first child, but she died giving birth to her.

Lady Eva's death brought despair to Lord Merricke and he fell into a realm of evil. He became a hard and dark man, though he hid that side of himself from his daughter, Lucia. After the death of his wife, his daughter was all he loved and he gave her anything in the world she would want. What surprised him most was the fact that she didn't seem to need or what much at all. She represented all that was good and pure, and he swore he would see to it that it remained that way.

What Lord Merricke didn't realize was that he was endangering his daughter of that by his own life, even though he did everything he could to hide it from her. When he was with her, she had every bit of his attention and he doted upon her at every possible moment, but away from her, he led a life of wickedness. His sole purposes in life now are to bring happiness to his daughter and to increase his holdings, through legal means or not.

Personality Profile:
Merricke is a domineering and commanding man. Every aspect of him speaks dominance. With those under him, and even some of his peers, he's ruthless. Servants of his estate usually find themselves living a life of fear, though his older servants know it wasn't always that way. With one person Lord Merricke is gentle and loving, and that person is his daughter, who has no idea of the life he keeps hidden from her.

Physical Profile: Lord Merricke is tall and well-built for his age. He's a powerful and imposing man, though has started to put on a few extra pounds around his middle. He has blue eyes and dark short hair that has started to turn white around the edges. Though he now has a rugged appearance and his face has begun to show his aging lines, one can tell he was at one point a very handsome man.

Skills and Abilities:
Though Lord Merricke was a good knight and is still a well-learned and experienced swordsman, his ultimate talent is his tactical and strategic mind. He knows how to charm and what to say to influence people and win them to his side. Besides this, he is an excellent horseman and is a well-educated man.
