Background:
Gwalchmai is the eldest son of Iorwerth, who rules part of Abertawe for his elder brother Gwenwynwyn. He has several younger brothers and sisters and the family is a very close one. His mother is an outlander princess from whom he has inherited his height.
Until the age of fourteen he was raised at home, to become a knight and a lord like his father. As he also showed great musical talent, his mother had him trained as a bard as well. He spend a lot of time at the court of his uncle and he loved to play with his cousin Gwenhwyfar. They didn't see much of each other during the last couple of years, but he holds fond memories of her.
At the age of 14 he went to train at the castle of Lord Gwenwynwyn, a friend of his fathers. It was a border castle and Gwalchmai saw his first taste of battle here.
He also fell in love with Rhonwen, the daughter of lord Gwenwynwyn. They were madly in love and both fathers approved the match.
After the marriage they settled back near Abertawe and were happy for two years. Then Rhonwen died, giving birth to her first child, a son Rhys.
Gwalchmai left the child with his parents and went into the world to forget his grief. For two years he trecked around, not wanting to see anyone friends or family.
Only now has he overcome his grief. He doesn't want to settle back at Abertawe just now and has decided to serve at the kings court for a while.
A year later he returned to Abertawe after the dissapearance of his cousin Gwen. His uncle Wyn was griefstricken and died soon after. Leaving Hawk as king. At first he did not want the task at all. Especially when his mistress the healer Audrey was murdered. Now he is growing into his duties, and is even coming to like them. Although he will not admit it to himself yet, he has fallen in love with the lady Arianna and finally made her his Queen.
Personality Profile:
He is a very friendly person most of the time. Very chivalrous to the ladies and will never break his given word.
But once he dislikes someone or conciders them his enemy, he is a very bad enemy to have. For he never forgets a slight!

Gwalchmai has long flowing red hair and green eyes. He is lean and well trained and a favorite with the ladies.
Special Notes:
In battle he is a beserker. Once he starts a fight, he is not always able to stop it even in a friendly fight. The only one who has been able to calm him down is his wife.
