Background:
Born the son of Prince Galador, the knight of the lion, heir to the throne of Caer Dyvi who in turn was the son to a ruthless and mad king. Galin lived a life of uncertainty as his father worried all the time about his well-being since the king was known for killing members of his own bloodline out of madness. While the kingdom was ruled by the mad king, Galador in secret was trying to keep the fragile peace and away from the ears of one who would kill a child for stealing bread.
When he turned ten, Galin became a squire to Sir Athas, a man loyal to Galador instead of the king. Through the knight, Galin was taught above all else the rules of chivalry. Next Athas taught Galin the art of tracking anything from an animal to a person by sometimes leaving him alone in the middle of the forest and made to return home with the tail of a deer or the body of a rabbit and not to return until he did. This lesson also taught Galin how to survive in the wild by hunting and how to move quickly through unknown terrain and cover tracks.
Galin was taught the bow before he learned the sword as Athas told him that the more he proved himself the closer he could come to a target. Not faring well with weaponry Galin made more mistakes than he had done when trying to be charming to the ladies of the court. Unlike his father who has been called Galador the brave, he was known as Galin the fool or sometimes Galin the clumsy. His failure however never destroyed his hopes though it embarrassed his family many times, his determination to succeed was his driving force to eventually succeed in his training. During a long winter in his fourteenth year, Galin accompanied his father to Dinas Dwr where Galador was named Earl of Llayne by the king after pledging his loyalty and support to defeat a barbarian tribe that once plagued Caer Dyvi but now was in Abertawe. For this the mad king appeared infuriated and Galador feared for the lives of his family already sending his wife to Abertawe to make preparations in case they had to leave their home.
Almost a year later the war began with the high council of knights swearing loyalty to Galador while most of the other knights pledged support to the mad king. It was father against son and Galin found himself torn between his loyalties when Athas revealed he was going to kill Prince Galador. Throwing aside his loyalty to Athas, Galin went to his father and soon after his former master and mentor was thrown from the battlements of Galador's castle. Knowing the mad king would come with an army that would Greatly outnumber his own, Galador decided he and his family should separate for their protection, leaving with most of his knights and soldiers the prince travelled north to distract the king while his son and daughters, Amara and Naria would travel south to flee the kingdom and head for Abertawe and safety.
During the journey the party came upon a large search party who had received word of the distraction and had come to destroy Galador's heirs. While the knights escorting the three rode to their doom to protect those they had sworn to, Galin fled with his sisters across the border to Dinas Dwr. Continuing on they were preyed upon by bandits and thieves constantly with Galin proving his courage by defending both his siblings with his father's sword, given to him before their parting. Using skills taught by his backstabbing mentor, Galin befriended many simple farmers who gave them shelter and food as well as directions to the nearest towns. At the last leg of their journey, they stood upon the border looking into Abertawe, where their future awaited them.
Personality Profile:
A headstrong lad, Galin is dedicated and selfless like his father who cares more about his family than anything else. Though at times he holds back when he should move forward, he none the less is courageous when he has to be. Sworn to uphold the task his father set for him, Galin holds concern for his father who remains missing in the northern reaches of the isle. Having taken up the family role as protector until
such time as Galador returns, Galin cares little for pride, glory or honour as much as he does his role.
Physical Profile: Still looking like a lad than a man, has the golden hair of his mother but his father's eyes. Most people who see him and speak to him usually call him boy or lad not thinking that he almost is of age, he looks fit for his age. When he left his father, Galin was given his father's sword made from the finest steel to protect his sisters with.
Skills and Abilities:
Good with the bow and sword, Galin has been taught
chivalry and is known as a good young gentleman. A good tracker, Galin is both good at moving with haste on foot and on horseback.
