Sir Etienne ap Conwy
Knight
Played by: E.Martinez
Name:Sir Etienne ap Conwy
Age: 21
Height: 5'10"
Weight: 160lbs
Background:
He was born in the city of Conwy, in the west of Abertawe to a minor
noble family with a small manor and several acres of land. He went on
to have a fairly stable childhood at Conwy, spending his time up in
the hills and forests outside the city; there he learnt how to hunt
and fish from a young age. Being the second son of a minor noble meant
there would be no title for the boy, therefore it was decided that the
family would send him off to their lords castle to become a knight.
At the age of seven he was sent to the castle of Lord Iorwerth ap Greidawl's and began his training as a page. He was taught how to write and read as well as the many types of armour and weapons he would one day come to use. His hunting skills were also refined and he learnt how to handle hawks and falcons. As well as learning he also had to work for his keep and regularly served food at his lords table and cleaned the armour of the Knights at the court.
When he turned fourteen he became a squire to the renowned Knight, Sir Nicholas ap Conwy. As well as attending to Sir Nicholas by maintaining his armour and weapons, Etienne also followed him on the battlefield and fought under his protection. The years passed and the fourteen year old turned into a twenty year old, reaching the age where he was eligible for knighthood, in many a campaign he fought and he was known as a trusty squire, but still Sir Nicolas ap Conwy would not knight him. Until one day during a patrol of the western border, Sir Nicholas ap Conway and his retinues were ambushed by bandits. The knight was brought down by an arrow and many in the party were killed or wounded. Etienne the ever faithful squire instead of fleeing stood by his mortally wounded Knight and defended him till the bandits fled the field.
Before passing away, the mortally wounded Sir Nicholas ap Conwy drew his sword and knighted his squire as Sir Etienne ap Conwy, then ordered Etienne to take his sword denying it to the bandits and to leave him before they returned. The newly promoted Knight did what he was told and took the man's sword and rode away to find help. But when he returned with more men, Sir Nicholas ap Conwy was dead and stripped of his armour by the bandits.
So Sir Etienne ap Conwy now travelled to the capital to find Lord Lord Iorwerth ap Greidawl in the hope that he could serve under his Lord once again as he did when he was a page.
Personality Profile:
He sees himself as one of the great knights of old, protecting the
Kingdom from the evils of the world. Being a rash young knight he is
known to sometimes behave recklessly, with total disregard for
personal danger. When not on campaign, Etienne is known for his
simple standard of leaving, rarely indulging in drink or women.
Physical Profile: Etienne has an athletic build; he has green-brown eyes, and light brown hair.
Skills and Abilities:
He has been trained in the use of the Lance, Mace and one handed Sword
like most Knights, and he is also a champion horsemen. During combat
he will wear full armour of predominantly chainmail, and will charge
with the cavalry in a wedge formation into the densest blocks of
spearmen with little regard for personnel safety.
Special Notes:
Sir Etienne ap Conwy's crest consists of a rampant lion on a blue
shield with a red sash running from top left to bottom right. Because
of this crest he has been offended referred to as the "Lion of Conwy",
a nickname which he is rather proud of.
