Played by: Sarah Arlais Llyn Morgant

Name:Arlais Llyn Morgant
Age: 20
Height: 5’3”
weight: 105 lbs

Background:
Having lost both of her parents at an early age, Arlais instead blossomed under the guardianship of her grandparents, two very nurturing and loving individuals. As a youth, she was allowed to wander the nearby fields, to play in the mud after the rains, and to stay up as late as she wished, so long as it didn't interfere with her chores or studies the following morning. Rarely was she scolded, but rarely did she require it. When her grandmother planted herbs and vegetables in the spring, Arlais always and with much eagerness helped. When her grandfather returned from his voyages at sea, she would always listen with great interest to the same old jokes, familiar sailing stories, and the descriptions of the exotic flora and fauna of foreign places. Yet, as time went on, Arlais invariably accummulated responsibilities, for her grandparents had the strength to do less and less with each passing year. One of the first duties she was given was to look after the two nags in their tiny barn. Later, she began to put together and deliver medicine packets to neighboring villages for her grandmother. When her grandfather's sight became too poor, it was Arlais who wrote and read his missives. When her grandmother's hands were in too much pain, it was Arlais who harvested and cured the herbs. And eventually, she became accustomed to this life, allowing her own song and voice to keep her company. For although her grandparents were elderly, they would live a while yet, and she couldn't imagine not being around to help them.

It was shortly after this seemingly justified thought that Arlais was approached by her grandmother and told that it was time for her to leave her home of twenty years. "Go to Alban," she said. "Seek out a mentor and learn all that you can, for the Earth Mother surely has plans for you." So Arlais was not meant for such a simple life of gardening and chores, afterall. Despite her many ardent objections, her grandmother would not be persuaded, and so Arlais had no choice but to do as she was told. It was only after she had packed her things and said her goodbyes that she finally began to accept her grandmother's wishes and to see the wisdom hidden within them. Though, she knew she would soon miss her grandfather's old jokes and her grandmother's warm smile, and she also knew, in her heart, that she might never see either of them again.

Personality Profile:
Arlais had always been a bit out of place in her tiny hometown. Even as a child, she seemed a little too distant, a little too distracted by something. She rarely took part in the games of other children, much preferring the company of trees and books, both of which, as she used to say, had plenty to tell. She had a quiet way of learning. Some mistook it for a slow mind, but she always surprised them later by demonstrating something quite beyond her years, an understanding of life or nature that most could never truly grasp. People would say that she had a gift, a boon given by the Earth Mother out of sympathy for the girl's losses--though no one really knew what it was, if anything. But those sayings, just like childhood, eventually passed. Over the years, Arlais became like any of her peers: rather preoccupied with work and mundane chores, for her family surely needed the extra pair of hands. It was during this time that her imagination secretly flourished. Now, at the age of twenty, she has grown into a creative and adventurous young woman who sees the best in others, trusts wholeheartedly, and loves unconditionally.

Physical Profile: Arlais could be considered moderately attractive by most standards. She has a fair complexion, almost pale, and crystalline light-green eyes lined with thick, dark lashes. When she blushes or becomes flustered, her countenance and throat turn an obvious, rosy hue. Her hair, dark-brown and wavy, extends to the middle of her back when it is loose, but as Arlais tends to wear it braided or wrapped up, its length and luster tend to go unnoticed. Though she may not have the advantage of height, Arlais has an easy, natural grace about her, and while she is petite, she is hardly waifish. In fact, she has a healthy, toned build and a hardy spirit to match. When she works, she works hard, and she isn't afraid to get dirty. Still, she tends to keep very tidy, always washing after handling food, animals, and herbs. Her attire also tends to reflect this concern so that no matter what she wears, it is always fresh, crisp, and clean.

Skills and Abilities:
Arlais was educated by her grandparents, and so she can both read and write (although she enjoys the former a little more than the latter). She also has a voice like honey and loves to sing, but she's not likely to do so in the company of strangers. Riding is actually her favorite pasttime by far, and Arlais greatly enjoys getting lost among the woods and meadows of the countryside. Indeed, for her, it is an escape. She has a way with nature, this one: she easily charms animals, gardens flourish under her care, and the weather is never too unpredictable. Arlais keeps a journal that includes an entry for every herb she's ever picked or grown and every salve or elixir she's ever experimented with. The art of healing is her greatest passion.

Special Notes:
Arlais may be uncertain about her future, but she has faith enough in herself. She trusts that no matter what she does, be it pulling weeds in the garden or training at Abertawe's capital, she will succeed.
