Background:
Afan was born in Donneiwtydd, to Sir Calidor ap Hurrie and his wife Lady Elspeth. Sir Calidor was the Vassal to the Baron of Donneiwtydd, and his wife is still the Lady-in-Waiting to the Baroness. From early years, Afan was trained to become a knight, but when his father died in the service of the King, fighting with the Baron to defeat a border intrusion by a Nethbo, Afan was left fatherless, and unable to finish his training as a page.

Lady Elspeth took him into her care, and his martial training was tempered with a high degree of courteous training. He finished his term as a page, and needed a knight to be assigned as squire to. When his mother's mistress, Baroness Donneiwtydd became fond of a visiting squire, that saved her life, and subsequently had his knighted, Afan found himself with a new master.

He has followed Sir Euan on his travels to Alban, where they earned respect after Sir Euan became the Knight of Diamonds. When the war broke out, Sir Euan was put in charge of a regiment, and Afan got some military training, as part of his squire duties. The news from the eastern front scared Afan, as the Enemy had gone through Donneiwtydd and the news that several women of the Baroness retinue were now taken as camp followers by the enemy army led him to believe that his mother was dead or dying.

He met and befriended Lady Isa, the Queen Mother, and she promptly adopted the lad after hearing his fears. And after showing Lady Isa the orphaned Children's Street Theatre, and then helping to found the Royal Orphanage, he was released as Squire by Sir Euan, and joined Lady Isa as her Squire instead.

Personality Profile:
Afan is mischievous in nature, a happy and warm young man, and courteous to women of all ages and station. He likes to visit places where most men avoid, easily befriend those he meet. He has a strong sense of responsibility, and wants to educate pages to become good squires, even if it needs a lot of harsh discipline. He is helpful, and curious, but lacks a bit of control.

Physical Profile: Afan is dark haired, cut short as a squire. He is average size for his age at 5'5", and he has developed, but not bulky muscles. His is dextrous, and lithe, but lacks somewhat in constitution. He is always clean-shaven, showing a very expressive face.

Skills and Abilities:
He is good at dagger fighting, still a bit weak in Swordfighting. He knows how to use a bow, but excels in the use of a sling. He has one on him at all time, used as a silk sash. He rides a horse quite well, and will start jousting soon. He has very well developed training in courtly graces, and likes to dance. He has still to master an instrument, but as is the norm from that part of Abertawe, he has a good voice for singing.

Special Notes:
He is love with, and is going to marry the love of his life, Lady Alaria. He dresses in breeches and tunic with a small crest of the Household of Lady Isa over his right chest. He also has a medallion around his neck, with the miniature of his mother. He also has a small silver bracelet given him by his love, Lady Alaria.
