Background:
Alaria was the daughter of Acuturus Ap Aeric, Count of a small area of land land south east Cylidd just outside its provincial border. Acturus was so determined that his daughter would become a good noble lady that as far back as Alaria can remember, she was taught good female conduct and how to act like a lady.

Though she would help the maids and other workers around her father's manor often, her main areas of learning were, sewing, singing and learning how to play the lute. When she turned twelve, a knight offered a reasonable amount of land in exchange for her hand in marriage but Acturus had the man thrown out of his lands. Acturus then taught his daughter how to be a good count or in Alaria's case, countess knowing that there was a chance that she wouldn't find a husband by the time he died. Alaria stopped learning only just female skills when she turned fourteen and her father became seriously ill. She was well aware that in his weakened state it fell upon her to look after the family holdings until he got better. One night a small group of bandits broke into the manor and attempted to kill the Count, Alaria attempted to fend them off with her father's sword but having no training meant she was easily cast aside saved from death at the last minute by the captain of the guards. After that night Alaria pleaded with the captain to teach her how to use weapons even though years before her father had forbidden her to learn the art of war. Alaria learned the basics of the sword and became skilled with the bow. Alaria became countess when her father died a month after she turned seventeen.

Now ruling the lands of her father, Alaria still helped the maids and other workers around the manor in their tasks, though a few offered to marry Alaria, she refused knowing they were only after her family's land. When war began in Abertawe, her loyal captain of the guards continued her training with a short sword. Eventually the front of the war reached her lands and she knew that for her own safety she had to leave taking the few people who worked in the manor with her she fled to Alban with her loyal guard captain knowing it was safer there.
